29, 2015
The entire ‘Salesian Educative
Community’ as it is fondly referred to at Don Bosco’s Matunga, or the General
Body of the Parent Teacher Association came together in the interest of the
students in the school gym on three days, Wednesday June 24 for classes IX and
X, Friday June 26 for classes VII and VIII and Monday June 29 for classes V and
VI.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred D’Souza welcomed
the new Principal, Rev. Fr. Bernard Fernandes and gave the theme for the year
‘Like Don Bosco - With The Young, For The Young,’ reiterating the importance of
parents and teachers alike “being there for our boys, ‘Accompaniment’ being
the key word.”
Rev. Fr. Bernard announced the cent
percent results at the S.S.C. examination with pride and thanked the outgoing
Principal, Rev. Fr. Bosco D’Mello, the teachers, parents and the boys for the
hard work put in. Fr. Bernard informed the parents about the administrative
effort that had gone into making the school a welcoming, comfortable and state
of the art home away from home for the students. Fr. Bernard also informed the
parents of the preparatory work the teachers had put in before the start of the
academic year through seminars attended and of the leadership training
programme attended by the members of the Student Council.
Fr. Bernard then reminded the
parents about important rules and regulations of the school which needed to be
adhered to, along with details about special subjects and the examination
pattern. Fr. Bernard exhorted parents to dissuade their children from attending
coaching classes while instead, persuading them to take competitive exams and
to go beyond the scope of the class by joining the various clubs the school
offered, by reading periodicals and newspapers and keeping abreast of current
affairs.
The parents then proceeded to the
respective class rooms to meet with the class teachers and to elect the
executive committee of the S.E.C. for the academic year 2015-2016 which will,
in their turn, continue to work towards the betterment of the students.
