On 7th of November 2015 – the Open Day of the School, the nature club boys organised a sale of diyas, and best out of waste articles. Many charts giving descriptions on celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali were displayed in the school building. The main motive behind having the sale was to interact with parents and encourage them to have a safe and eco-friendly Diwali this season. In this activity, we had parents assisting the students in the sale which was very encouraging. The students asked the parents and visitors to give a feedback by writing in a book that they maintained.

DONS OF U-14 FOOTBALL

Don Bosco High School,
Matunga, Mumbai
10 November, 2015

"Don Bosco's are dons of under-14 football, clinch second title of season' screams the title on Mid-day (10th Nov. 2015). Indeed they are! Our boys have stamped their supremacy in inter-school football claiming their second MSSA title this season besides the couple of DSO titles that they pocketed earlier on in the scholastic year. Our team defended the MSSA title beating St Stanislaus (Bandra) 7-6 via tie-breaker to clinch the boys' U-14 Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) Utpal Sanghvi knockout inter-school football title at Azad Maidan yesterday. Last year too, the team had beaten St Stanislaus in title clash, and only 10 days ago we got the better of our Bandra rivals in the boy's U-14 MSSA Division I title battle (We won 4-2 via tie-breaker).

Another reason to celebrate! Another title to be proud of! Congrats boys and coaches!

The Red House celebrates ‘Incredible North East India’

- Mrs. Elizabeth Soares

Don Bosco High School,
Matunga, Mumbai
7 November, 2015

A week-long journey through the north eastern seven ‘sister states’ of India brought a wealth of knowledge about the remote frontiers and rugged regions that comprise the farthest reaches of India, courtesy the Red House students of Don Bosco High School, Matunga.

The lilting melody ‘Mist and Magic’ became the theme song which carried us over the far expanses of this least known and sadly, oft misunderstood part of our own country. Video presentations transported us to ageless forests, formidable mountain ranges, chilling glacial rivers and swampy grasslands as we witnessed the vast ethnic diversity and alluring culture of the peoples. From the challenging Himalayas to the serene Tawang monastery, from the enchanting tea gardens of Assam to the drenched towns of Cherrapunji and Mawsynram, from the mighty one-horned rhinos of Kaziranga to the endangered Sangai deer in Manipur; for being home to boxing legend Mary Kom and the musical genius that was the late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika; we saw that the north east offers something to enthrall everyone.

The sprightly Naga and Bihu dances performed by students of the Red House added ebullience to the informative talk shop conducted over the intercom. A quiz and extempore speeches gave students of the other houses the opportunity to flaunt their newly acquired knowledge and also to win prizes for their respective houses.
A video presentation captured the entire celebration, beginning with the festive decorations to the colourful displays, from the teachers and students felicitating the management to the participation of the boys in the revelry, adding an element of togetherness and charm.
DO VISIT THIS LAND, A PARADISE ON EARTH – NORTH EAST INDIA.
