Don Bosco High School,
Matunga, Mumbai
31 January, 2015

The school premises wore a festive look on the penultimate day of the month of January since it was the feast of our father, founder and patron saint DON BOSCO. Though the feast falls on the 31st of January, this year being a Sunday, the joyous celebrations were held on 30th January. The statue of Don Bosco in the lobby was beautifully decorated, and a serene and blissful presence of the beloved saint permeated the campus. The day began with a meaningful and joyful celebration of the Holy mass for the Catholic students and staff of the school. At the morning assembly, the students received a wonderful message on Don Bosco for their inspiration and growth. The festivities continued through the day with snacks and refreshments for staff and students.

Happy feast of St. John Bosco to all. May he continue to guide, inspire and lead all, especially the young!

Taking a break from the humdrum of day to day school activity, coaching classes, computers, smartphones and other gadgets, our NCC troupe under the able leadership of their master, Sir Shukla, and five other guides, ventured on a one-day trekking expedition on the enchanting mountainous route of Kharjat-Ambivali-Kotaligad. Starting early on Sunday (24th Jan) morning, the cadets overcame fatigue, heat, and cramps to climb hilly terrains that covered the lower plateau of Peth, the Bhairoba temple at the entrance of an ancient cave and a fort. More of such activities will surely give our present day students satisfying moments with nature and prepare them for challenges ahead.

-Ms Ashwini Gupte

A solemn flag hoisting by our senior teachers, Mrs. Syria Paiva and Mrs. Shoba D'Souza, flanked by our N.C.C. cadets marked the joyous occasion of India's 67th Republic Day. Class VIII B through their assembly 'Man, the steward of creation' gave us a stirring message, that of freedom bringing along with it responsibility; the urgent need therefore, for us to take care of mother earth, even as we enjoy her bounty.
We were witness to the boys reciting from religious scriptures of a number of major religions, urging us to safeguard and make responsible use of the fruits of mother nature.
Rev. Fr. Wilfred D’Souza, our Rector, urged each of us to profit by the scriptures of our own religions, thus becoming loving, peaceful and responsible citizens of a synergetic world.
