Don Bosco High School,
Matunga, Mumbai
8 Sep 2015.
Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj,
scion of the Marathas in Kolhapur, was the social reformer the class opted to
extol, as one who tirelessly strove to eradicate the then entrenched social ill
of caste discrimination, through free education for the poor.
The class drew a parallel with our
Founder, St. John Bosco, who dedicated his whole life towards improving the
lives of the young and the marginalised.
Every individual has a right to education. However, not every child gets
this right even in our present society. Std. 6 D highlighted the persona of the
great Maratha king Rajashree Shahu Maharaj who defeated unjust society and
brought about change.
